Create a vision of the reality you want.

Dream Big… it might just happen!

It's May 2014, and I'm thinking hard about my life rich moments.
"Life Rich" defined as those in-exchangeable memories that thread the fibers of our life stories.
Big moments of past experiences that becomes our memories. And the possibility of tomorrow, banking on our dreams and aspirations.

For me I've always dreamed of spending time in New York in the summer. Simply strolling the streets (and yes running in Central Park), eating where the locals eat and being inspired by the city that never sleeps.  New York has always tantalised me with the vast experiences,  variety of people and to be apart of something much bigger than ourselves. New York equals inspiration and this year I want a piece of big apple.

So May 2014 I decided to manifest my dream trip to New York in June.  A mere 1 month away!
And whilst those around me thought I had gone bonkers, I was committed to my experiment with the universe.  All based the simple premise that “if I truly believe it CAN happen, it WILL happen”.

So here's how I approached the Manifestation process:
  1. Clarity - I got clear on what I wanted!  2 weeks in New York in Mid June 2014.
  2. Vision Board - I created a vision board of images, places, experiences and motivational words to keep me focus.
  3. Belief – Taking time out to sit with my thoughts, journal and mediate, gave me the chance to create my new reality. This cleared any perceived blockers and suddenly those ‘no it can’t possibly happen because x, y, z’ were merely perceptions.  Rethink your perceptions to create your desired reality.
  4. Tribe – I surrounded myself with my tribe, like minded people open and supportive of my experiment. Enthusiasm is contagious and I found my family, friends and co-workers were totally in support of my quest for happiness.
  5. De-cluttered - To make way for new experiences, I needed to de-clutter my life including spaces, faces and thoughts.  I cleaned out my inbox, cleaned up my social media channels, sold everything that isn’t nailed down and spring-cleaned my house from top to bottom. I cleaned up my mind clutter and found life surprising easy when you’re in the flow of saying yes to life.
  6. Plan- To turn my crazy plan into reality I needed a plan. I used a simple mindmap to work out dates, places, travel plans, budgets, accommodation etc.  Breaking this into working chunks of work, makes the trip all too easy to plan and execute.
  7. Budget – Obviously money is important but here’s the thing. I have an innate belief that I will find the money.  There is never a good time to sink money into life experiences, especially when I have a family and mortgage to consider.  But by simply saying yes to this trip, I know I will find the money!   I cashed in years of Frequent Flyer points (albeit my husbands points) for free flights. I used AirBnB to find affordable accommodation living with the locals.  And all that de-cluttering meant I had things to sell for spending money.    A simple belief can work miracles.
  8. Ducks in a line – Now with all my plans in place, the logistics can be done. By using my Mindmap, I work through my list, setup my countdown calendar and start packing those bags.
  9. Ready Set, Go – The proof is in the pudding. I depart Brisbane on the 6th of June for 2 weeks in New York and the Hamptons. Flights, accommodation are booked. Passport renewed and family on board with my New York countdown.
  10. Reflection & Gratitude – Underpinning all the above steps is deep gratitude and respect that everything is as it should be. A simple task of identifying 3 things to be grateful for, gives focus on the pleasures and goodness of each and every day.  After all,  it’s not the destination that’s important, it’s the journey!

The above steps can be applied to any goals or aspiration in life and can be used as a simple blueprint for turning your dreams into reality.

Stay tuned for more adventure and photos across the high seas.
